Members of the Esopus Fire Department responded to the area around 3 p.m. after receiving word of the stuck dogs, the department said on their Facebook page.
Once firefighters arrived and confirmed the dogs were on the ice without access to retrieve them, they went to work along with the Rifton Fire Department with their ice rescue team and the Town of Esopus Volunteer Ambulance Squad, the department said.
With a little work, Esopus firefighters were able to rescue the dogs within 10 minutes, the department said.
The dogs were then taken to Ulster County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals where they were later reunited with their family.
Esopus firefighters were also assisted by Ulster County Emergency Services.
